The money is starting to roll in
for the new Mount Greenwood Park
playground.
No donation is too small and the
opportunities to give are growing,
said Mary Vogwill, one of four mothers
spearheading the $800,000 effort.
Half of the money has been raised
through a $200,000 park district grant
and $100,000 each from state Sen. Ed
Maloney (D-Chicago) and state Rep.
Kevin Joyce (D-Chicago).
Students at Mount Greenwood School
chipped in $300 from a recent dress
down day. And the project has been
awarded a $10,000 grant from Kohl's
Cares for Kids.
Proceeds from a July 31 showing of
"Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory" at Mount Greenwood Park
will benefit the playground fund.
The playground fund should also get
a boost from brick sales and a raffle
launched this week. Tickets are $50
and prizes start at $7,500. The
drawing will be held during the Party
in the Park on Sept. 9.
