The
playlot at Mt Greenwood Park
failed two (2) safety inspections last
year. “The Injury Free Coalition for
Kids” from Children’s
Memorial
Hospital
completed a study in June, 2005, and
the Risk Assessment Department of The
Chicago Park District completed
another in November, 2005. These
reports confirmed what many in the
community had suspected: the playlot
contained multiple safety hazards for
our children. In
fact - since the reports, several of
the unsafe structures have already
been removed form the park.

The pictures below
show the current state of the playlot
at Mount Greenwood Park

The playlot is not
entirely fenced in - children can run
into the parking lot
A bench that has
been broken for a very long time -
remains unrepaired

A
pole that supports a high point of a
slide was repaired with chains and
bolts.

The
arrow points to an unsafe gap in the
plastic wall caps - this is not the
only one.
